Your clip on hair extension questions answered!

Is it possible to fit the clip in hair myself?

Yes, its very easy.  You will receive full fitting instructions and it takes just minuets to fit them.

Can my hair extensions be straightened?

Yes as often as you like!  Clip in hair extensions are made with human hair.  It is best to use a styling holder to straighten, curl and perfect your hair extensions style before fitting them to your head.

How are the hair extensions attached?

The hair extensions are made of strips of real human hair , each strip is a specific size and has micro clips already attached to them.  The clips are pressure sensitive and clipped into the hair between sections.  This ensures they are hidden, secure and natural looking.

How often can I wear my extensions?

As often as you like, just remember to take them out before sleeping to prolong their life.  The clip ins can last up anything from 6 months to a year depending on how often you wear them.

Are the clip ins easy to look after?

Very easy!  Simply spritz some maintenance spray onto the ends of the extensions after each use.

Will people be able to see if I am wearing hair extensions?

The beauty of clip in extensions is the natural look that can be achieved with them.  Once fitted they are a perfect blend with your own hair.

Clip In Extensions - From Catwalk To Salons

Within the industry of sessions styling it is well known that clip in extensions have been used for years.  Clip ins were the extension trade secret of the stylists that worked at photoshoots and catwalks!  Hair extensions, whether applied with glue, bonds or sewn in all have related problems.  The clip in hair extension has far moved on from the days of the trashy high ponytail claw clip.  Most importantly they are the only type of extension that doesn't damage your hair in any way and they truly do look as fabulous and real as the other type of extensions currently available.  Why wouldn't they!  After all they are made using the exact same beautiful quality hair as a glue extension system.  The only difference is the use of a clip. 

Many of my clients were secretly wearing the clip in hair extension long before people knew they existed.  Clip ins enabled me to dramatically change a clients appearance in a realistic way.  I think the greatest advantage is being able to style the extensions before my clients are even in sight.  Before a model sets foot on a photoshoot the design team are busy creating mood boards and sampling textures and ideas.  Every detail of the project from shoe colour to hair texture is determine before hand.  On the morning of the shoot I can often be found surrounded by beautifully styled hair that isn't even attached to a persons head.  The models arrive, I prep their hair, clip in the extension and off they trot to make-up.  It makes my job a dream, all the prep work can be done before hand without the stresses you normally go through on set. 

Now that the clip in extension is so easily available to the public the trends you see on catwalks will easily be achievable to the masses.  Saturday nights out will see girls fashioning fabulous healthy looking hair more so than ever before.  I think clip in extensions are here to stay for the long run, whether on set, in the salon or at home!

The best products for your hair extensions - L'Oreal.

Head Kandy love L'Oreal styling products.  They are safe to use on the hair extensions.  Also they are specially made to be light and non sticky & non messy.  Which is perfect for your clip ons as well as your own hair.  There are different variations from spray on to creams.  Just make your choice on which you prefer to work with when styling your hair and your clip in extensions.  Check out the shop to learn more about the L'Oreal styling range.

Spot the difference

People often wonder how you can tell the difference between Grade A, B, C & D human hair.  Clip in hair extensions can be made of any grade hair.  Being satisfied with grade C hair is unlikely.  The hair will feel different, not last very long and dry up easily.  Before I go any further I must note that our clip in hair extensions are 100% grade A Bohyme Remi.  Grade A hair still has its cuticle in place.  A clip in hair extension made with grade A hair will look and feel thick, smooth and soft.

Examples talk of 18inch clip in hair -

Our Hair is true -

Grade A - 100% Human hair, hand selected remi, cuticle in place and aligned.  95% of the hair is 18inches in length.  Which means that the ends of the hair extensions are as thick as the middle and top.  This type of hair is perfect for clip in hair extensions.

Grade B - 100% Human Hair, remi, cuticle sometimes in place and sometimes non aligned - causes tangles.  70% of the hair is 18inches in length.  This means 30% of the hair on the extension may only be 10inches, leaving a thinner end, the hair is sometimes stretched to make it appear longer, this is unacceptable for hair extensions.

Grade C - 100% Human Hair, non remi, no cuticle.  40% of the hair is 18inches in length.   The hair is sometimes 'stretched' to make it appear longer. This means very thin ends!

Grade D - Yaki hair, synthetic and human mixed. 40% of the hair is 18inches in length.  Thin ends and poor texture.

A good check idea is to ask a supplier to explain what makes their grade A clip ins 'grade A.'  Ask for all the details about width as well as length.  A great supplier will always be happy to give you all the information you require.

The First Kiss Whilst Wearing Clip In Hair Extensions

Ok, so he’s seen you before looking your fabulous best, of course he knows nothing of the effort you’ve put into looking the way you do. It’s an unwritten rule when it comes to clip in hair extensions to ensure that men never see us clip, glue or tape our locks onto our humble heads! Tonight however could prove difficult, tonight you know you’re likely to be sharing that sexy first kiss in fact you’re counting on it but you know that if it’s going to be any good then you’re going to need some passion and intensity but aaaaaaaaaah!! That means he’s going to run his fingers through your hair which also means he is going to feel your clip in hair extensions!! May Day, May Day!!! Now for the sake of your social and potential love life you’re not about to turn down the opportunity of a nice date and a hot kiss because of your vanity so you go and just hope for the best. After a lovely evening, that moment is fast approaching, you’re hearts beating as he leans in, then fireworks as you kiss but noooo, dilemma, just as you had anticipated his hands are heading towards your hair extensions! So, you try to distract him, you hold his hand and toss your head, you’re panicking, you don’t want this to ruin the moment but then here’s the question, would he actually notice? Am I worrying about nothing? I remember my friend Darren, straight but a platonic friend. He saw me first thing in the morning, hair like Owen Wilson and not a scrap of make up. Then as I emerged from the bedroom a good half an hour later after I’d washed and scrubbed up, fresh face of make-up and hair at least 18 inches longer and considerably thicker, he claims to notice no difference!! Joy!! So men are simple creatures that don’t notice all our imperfections, great!! But then in that case, why do we bother? Whether the men notice or not, we do! I guess it all comes down to confidence, as long as we feel confident and sexy then it’s all worth it because confidence is definitely something that guys do notice! So anyway back to date night and the current kissing situation, sure I’ll continue to distract him away from my clip in hair extensions as best I can also trying not to kill the passion but come on, how bad could it be, I’m just going to enjoy it and hope I can keep his attention firmly on me and the kiss!
